Artist Bio

A Temple Terrace resident since 1987, Anita Long is an active volunteer who loves giving bacAnita Longk to her community. With a natural ability for painting and crafts, Anita has donated much of her time and talents to charity and fundraisers.

It was at a painting project where she organized volunteers, designed and painted storm drains for Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful that Anita was approached to paint one of the walls on 56th and Busch with a Temple Terrace timeline theme. With over 17 points of reference to include, the project involved the history of Temple Terrace as well as present day events. The 56th and Busch mural was a project she was honored to paint. Since retiring as a print shop business owner, Anita has worked with Terry Klaaren on several murals, including a 70' wall in Morton Plant Hospital, a mosaic project on an outdoor wall in Channel District, a 40' private residence pool wall, the Temple Terrace Library murals and several schools and restaurants.

Moments in Time

Anita created an historical timeline for the City. Depicted on the left side are the Tocobaga Indians meeting the Spanish explorers. The Tocobaga Indians inhabited the land until around 1760. Following that is a painting of the Burgert brothers photographing a couple riding a canoe through the Hillsborough River. Next to them is a family having a picnic next to the river. Next is a view of Temple Terrace Estates Administration Building at 210 Inverness Avenue. In the middle of this piece are the original arches that welcomed people into our city. The painting ends with some of our present-day events including Art en Blanc and the annual (except during pandemics) 4th of July celebration.
