James Chambers was elected to the Temple Terrace City Council on Nov. 6, 2018. Mr. Chambers retired from the City of Temple Terrace after 43 years of service in the Leisure Services Department, the last 16 years as Department Director. During that time, he was named the Employee of the Year and received the Fran Barford Public Service awards. He moved with his family to Temple Terrace in 1968. Mr. Chambers has been active in the community for the past 49 years. Currently serving on the Woodmont Clubhouse Board, President of the Temple Terrace Arts Council, President of the King High School Athletic Booster Club, on the Board of Directors for the King High Alumni Association and formerly on the board of the Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club. His hobbies include being the Crew Chief for the Championship Formula 1 Blackhawk/Rinker Racing powerboat team; a Commissioner and Inspector for the OPC Division of the American Power Boat Association; Vice President and Safety Officer of the Tampa Radio Controlled Aircraft Association. His wife, Beth, is a retired Hillsborough County Public school teacher. They have been married for 42 years.
