Special Trash Pickups
The city provides special trash pickup service for larger items that do not meet pre-collection requirements for residents with active utility accounts. Items must be placed within 10 feet of the curb, but not in the street or under overhead wires or low-hanging limbs. Pickups are scheduled in the order in which they are called in to the Public Works Department.
Most residential addresses are eligible for one free special trash pickup per calendar year. There is a charge for each additional special pickup during the calendar year, which will be added to the resident's monthly utility bill. The rates for these pickups are as follows:
- Yard debris: $84.79 for every 15 minutes
- Miscellaneous items (Class III): $93.27 for every 15 minutes
After you have placed all of your debris at the curb, call the Temple Terrace Public Works Department at (813) 506-6570. Once your request is submitted, it will take approximately one to five business days for the pickup to take place. Yard debris and household items may be disposed of at the same time; however, they must be in separate piles.
NOTE: The annual free special pickup does NOT apply to the removal of trees 12" DBH (Diameter at Breast Height). The trimming and removal of trees 12" in diameter or larger requires a permit from the City of Temple Terrace. The work must be approved by the city arborist, or any licensed arborist who has inspected the tree and submitted the proper permit application. Invasive species are exempt. Please contact City Arborist Joseph Ferris at (813) 506-6482 if you have questions about your tree.
The city will remove tree debris for a fee (see fees above).
