Friends of the Library

Overview

The Friends of the Temple Terrace Library (or "the Friends" as it is commonly known) was formed in 1962 and became a Florida corporation with tax-exempt 501 (C)(3) status in 1997. Its purpose is to support the Library financially by raising funds through private efforts to secure equipment, furnishings, and materials that cannot be acquired within the constraints of the city budget. Over the past 36 years, many thousands of dollars have been raised to support the Library. An additional function of the Friends is to also promote the Library and its services within the community.

The members of the Friends organization pay an annual fee and further contribute their time by participation in fundraising activities. The Friends also wrote, published, and sell a book on the history of Temple Terrace.
