All requested inspections are scheduled to take place between 9 am and 4 pm on the following business day.
Inspection requests are to be called or emailed in prior to 4pm daily for the next day. All requests received after 4pm will be scheduled the second business day from request receipt. This is to allow for completion of the inspector schedule prior to departure for the current day and to assist office personnel with morning workload. This will go in effect July 11th to allow for notification of contractors and homeowners of the change. Same day inspection may be performed on a case by case or emergency basis as approved by inspector or building official.
Inspections that are scheduled for inspection and are not ready will be assessed a re-inspection fee.
You have two options for scheduling an inspection:
Option 1 – Online Inspection Scheduling

Option 2 – By Phone
To schedule an inspection by phone, call (813) 506-6464. You will be connected to our inspection request line, which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You will need to provide the following information:
- Permit Application number
- Address of the work to be inspected
- Type of inspection you are requesting
- Your contact name and telephone number
All requests will be scheduled for the following business day. If you would like to request a different/future day please use the online scheduling option.
Work Not Ready for Inspection / INSPECTION CANCELLATIONS
If you need to cancel an inspection because the work will not be ready then you need to contact our office at 813-506-6470 between the hours of 8 am and 9 am to cancel and avoid re-inspection fees.
To check inspection results online go to "Select Permit" and query by permit application number.
Inspectors are available in the office Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 9:00 am and by phone from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
Re-inspection fees are $75 for the first occurrence and $150 for each additional occurrence.
Some common problems that would cause delays and re-inspection fees are:
- Permit card(s) not being posted
- Approved building plans not on site
- Work not completed and ready for inspection
- Addresses not readily visible or missing
- Work-site not being accessible
